Leroy: GSI departure won't impact sustainability goals

Leroy Seafood Group's impending departure from Global Salmon Initiative (GSI), won’t alter any of the company's sustainability plans.

“The reason we have withdrawn our participation is we plan to use our own resources in-house," Henning Beltestad, CEO of Leroy, told IntraFish.

"Our focus is on operating our own company forthwith, also in regards to sustainability," he said.

Beltestad stressed the withdrawal from GSI would not change the company’s plans for Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) certification of the company’s farm sites.

“No, this won’t have any impact on the plans for becoming ASC-certified,” he said.
