It's now up to a federal judge whether a group of fishermen will receive any monetary compensation for the sinking of the Lone Star factory vessel last summer.

The suit, which was filed in Alaska state court last year, was moved to federal court at the request of the defendants in the case, most notably, Trident Seafoods Corporation.

The group of 20 Alaska residents who operated and operate salmon setnets near or at the mouth of the Igushik River claim the ship's owner, Charles Burrece, the vessel's crew and Trident, which chartered the boat, were "negligent, grossly negligent and reckless in causing the F/V Lone Start to sink and spill fuel."
