The Achotines Laboratory is one of the few facilities in the world that supports research on the reproductive biology and early life history of tunas.
The laboratory is owned and operated by the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC), which is composed of 16 member countries.
"We just like to get a description of our research program out there," Dan Margulies of IATTC told IntraFish. "We're always surprised a lot of people worldwide don’t know much about Achotines Laboratory and our program."
The commission’s scientific staff is responsible for studying the biology and stock structure of tunas in the eastern Pacific Ocean (EPO).
