Between 10,000 metric tons and 12,000 metric tons of farmed cod will be produced in Norway this year, Liabo said. With production in Canada, the United Kingdom and Iceland, total output will be between 12,000 metric tons and 13,000 metric tons.

“Once they have got a grip on the biology aspect, then they can quickly produce in much greater volume than is the case at present,” Liabo said last week at the AquaVision conference in Stavanger, Norway.

Several other speakers at the conference were bullish on farmed cod, as well.
