Hawaii-based Kona Blue already was selling its Kona kampachi at Whole Foods stores in Southern California.

“We have been in 25 Whole Foods stores in southern California for a while,” Kona Blue spokeswoman Kelly Coleman told IntraFish. “We are just recently in 21 Northern California stores and 9 Florida stores, and are in talks with other regions.”

Kona kampachi, or Seriola rivoliana, is a Hawaiian yellowtail fish grown to sushi-grade standards in 3,000-cubic-meter submersible cages located a half-mile offshore of the coast of Kailua-Kona on the Big Island.
