Whitefish processing company Kosin, which was facing bankruptcy in June before JFK Seafood agreed a deal to take over the stricken firm in the tail end of the year, IntraFish was told.

The cost of the takeover was not disclosed. While Maru Seafood confirmed Kosin had been sold to JFK Seafood, the latter declined to comment on the reports.

Kosin, which previously turned over €26 million ($35 million) before the troubles, halted production in December 2008. It was forced to sell its six trawlers, with 200 people in total losing their jobs.
