The US International Trade Commission (ITC) voted 5-1just moments agoto continue its concurrent investigation with the US Department of Commerce (DOC) to see whether to impose punitive duties on billions of dollars of imported shrimp from China, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Ecuador to offset what it said are unfair foreign government subsidies.

"[This vote] clears the way for the case to continue," ITC Public Affairs Officer Peg O'Laughlin told IntraFish.

The investigation began last month after a petition was brought forth by the Coalition of Gulf Shrimp Industries, which represents the US shrimp industry.

The
