This year has been a “volatile” year for Ecuadorian shrimp in terms of market behavior and prices, according to Jose Camposano, president of Ecuador's Chamber of Aquaculture, however predicting what will happen next year is very difficult in the current climate.

“Let´s hope things balance a little,” Camposano told IntraFish.

Ecuador could increase production by 10-15 percent next year “tops," Camposano said, but it will depend on market demand. 

“This year we grew almost 30 percent in terms of production and exports but it is not likely that we can get an additional 30 percent next year,” he said.
