Is Norway exporting salmon to Russia through neighboring countries?

Speculations that Norwegian salmon is finding its way into Russia via neighboring countries despite the imports ban have been growing over recent weeks, with sources referring to the increase of imports into these countries.

IntraFish has taken a closer look at exports of fresh salmon to Russia's neighbors.

It's been only three weeks since the implementation of the Russian import ban. Norwegian salmon exports were expected to be hit especially hard.

In 2013, Norwegian salmon fetched about NOK 4.2 billion (€516 million/$679.9 million) from its sales to Russia, accounting to 11 percent of salmon exports.
