Three identical new Irish midwater pair-trawlers, Carmarose SO-555, Colmcille G-186  and Westward Isle G-186 are being built for Killybegs owners by the Vestvaerftet yard at Hvide Sande in Denmark.

They will replace similar named vessels, which had been stalwarts of Ireland’s pelagic fleet for more than 30 years.

Killybegs companies Barry Electronics, EK Marine, KER, SeaQuest and Swan Net Gundry, each played key roles in supplying and commissioning equipment, machinery and fishing gear, while Noel O’Regan of Promara acted as the owners’ consultant.
