The €3.8 million ($4.7 million) Emerald Gratia is the seventh mussel dredger grant-aided by Irish seafood promotion group BIM and incorporates state-of-the-art safety features.
The dredger features cutting-edge technology to support its deck-mounted mussel washing and sorting system which will lead to a higher-quality mussel product, BIM said.
Purchased by Irish company, Emerald Mussels, the Emerald Gratia was built in Holland by leading shipyard Padmos Stellendam. The company received European Union and state grant-aid of €1.3 million ($1.6 million) through the NDP’s Aquaculture Measure, administered by BIM.
