"The situation has now been resolved and the company has had no further fish mortality," Invertec told the country's Superintendency of Securities and Insurance (SVS).
The algae blooms impacted two farms: Andruche, with an estimated loss of 202,799 fish of 3.85 kilos each worth $3 million (€2.2 million), and the Julian farm, which lost an estimated 150,000 fish of 0.55 kilos each valued at $709,500 (€528,367).
Invertec has insurance coverage for this event, but said it does not expect a very large payment "as the losses are close to the deductibles that will be applied."
