The 6,500-square meter plant regroups under one roof all of the company’s processing activities in Boulogne-sur-mer, which were previously spread across four factories.
It is owned by Intermarche’s seafood processing arm Capitaine Houat and has an initial annual capacity of 4,500 metric tons.
This will be expanded to 5,500 metric tons, Intermarche’s head of seafood operations, Thierry Barbier, previously told IntraFish.
Speaking in June, Barbier also said the group planned to boost its value-added production with the new plant, in part to meet the French’s increasing appetite for ready-meals.
