Interfish, a UK vertically integrated fishing, processing and export company based in Plymouth, has acquired a Scottish pelagic fishing company, Northbay Fishing.

The transaction was financed by a loan from the Royal Bank of Scotland Corporate & Institutional Banking (RBS CIB), Interfish said.

Interfish already operates eight pelagic and whitefish vessels, in addition to sorting, filleting, smoking, packing, freezing and distribution businesses. The group of more than 200 people had revenues of £26.6 million (€32 million/$40.8 million) in 2011.

Under the deal, Interfish will acquire Northbay's vessels, prowess and fishing quotas.
