The good times certainly are rolling along in the Norwegian aquaculture industry – not due to high prices but because of extraordinary growth.
The latest weekly statistics from the Norwegian Seafood Export Council (NSEC) revealed fresh salmon sales two weeks ago were up 30 percent over the corresponding week from last year.
A weekly volume of more than 9,100 tons of fresh salmon is substantial and possibly indicates reconsideration should be given as to when Christmas sales actually start, or the size of volumes that can be defined as Christmas sale volumes.
