Problems with infectious salmon anemia (ISA) virus have decimated Chile's salmon farmers and processors, and more than 17,000 workers so far have lost their jobs.

SalmonChile, the trade group for the salmon farming industry, said last week Infante would step down as CEO and be replaced by Carlos Odebret, and the headquarters moved from the capital, Santiago, to Puerto Montt, the heart of the country's southern salmon growing region.

"I have always given all I can to support the industry in its multiple challenges, and in this sense my work has not been at all routine or repetitive.
