Indian frozen seafood firm teams with Billingsgate to open 'School of Fish'
Institute aimed at promoting best practices in the seafood industry.
The institute will open its doors in Kochi from next month in collaboration with the UK-based Billingsgate Seafood Training School of Fishmongers’ Company.
Offering short- and medium-term courses, the institute will be the first of its kind promoted by a company for the overall development of the sector.
According to Feroz Javed, director at Abad Fisheries, the institute aims to improve the quality of seafood, develop professionals, employ students, and attract talent to the seafood industry.
“This is a non-profit outfit and the school will introduce modern equipment and teach the latest technologies adopted by developed countries for fishing in order to enhance the skills of our fishermen,” he said.
