India will legally challenge the countervailing duty (CVD)petition filed by the Coalition of Gulf Shrimp Industries (COGSI)in the United States, the Seafood Exporters Association of India(SEAI) said on Friday.
COGSI, a body of shrimp producers based in the Gulf of Mexico inUnited States, filed a petition to seek relief from cheaper shrimpimports from seven countries including India by imposing a 21percent duty on imports.
On top of engaging US-based lawyers, SEAI will send a team alongwith the promotional body Marine Products Export DevelopmentAuthority (MPEDA) to the United States this week.
