“In purely geographical and logistical terms, India is the perfect land to export fish from. We are situated midway in relation to many of the major seafood markets and we can become the global center for value-added production,” said G. Mohan Kumar of the Indian trade and industry ministry.
Kumar was among those that negotiated a reduction in the duty on fish imported from Norway from 30 percent to 10 percent, enabling India to afford to import Norwegian seafood for value-added production.
