The vote for an "indefinite" strike by Icelandic fishing crews -- should it proceed -- will surely impact the North Atlantic cod supply, but the burgeoning US market for Icelandic cod will likely find new sources, be they from Norway, Canada or Russia.
Jack Lombard, COO of Portland, Maine-based Nova Seafood, which imports fresh Icelandic cod, said that while fresh suppliers will be the most likely to be impacted if a strike goes through, his company will find other options.
As a "well-rounded" company, Lombard said Nova Seafood will be fine from a supply standpoint.
