The highest earning profession in Iceland is fishing, surpassing that of CEOs, financial executives and physicians, according to an annual review of salaries by the Icelandic business magazine, Frjáls verslun, published on Thursday.
On average, the 200 highest-earning fishermen earn ISK 2.4 million ($19,000 / €16,000) per month, while the 200 highest-earning CEOs had an average monthly income of ISK 2.2 million ($18,000 / €14,700), reports Iceland Review Online.
Prime Minister Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir earned ISK 1,241,000 ($10,130 / €8,248) per month last year, up by ISK 165,000 since 2009.
