Iceland’s ministry of fisheries announced a cod quota for the coming 2010-11 quota year of 160,000 metric tons, an increase of 10,000 metric tons on the current quota year which ends on Aug. 31.

The haddock quota is cut from 63,000 metric tons to 50,000 metric tons and the redfish quota falls from 50,000 metric tons to 40,000 metric tons, while the saithe quota remains unchanged at 50,000 metric tons.

Most flatfish quotas are reduced in line with scientific advice and the nephrops quota is also cut by 100 metric tons to 2,100 metric tons next year.
