Norwegian companies are not the only ones aching under the sheer endless amount of cod flushing markets, triggered by higher quotas in the North Sea and Barents Sea. Icelandic companies are sharing the struggle.

"We are having a difficult time -- most of us are suffering these days," Odinn Gestsson, general manager at cod and haddock supplier Islandssaga told IntraFish. "We are fighting against low prices and the increased numbers of fish coming from Norway."

Companies depending on whitefish, especially cod, are finding it difficult to handle lower market prices, concurred Vilhjalmur Vilhjalmsson, CEO at HB Grandi.
