Norway, the Faroe Islands and the European Union have been invited by Iceland to meet, although there had already been reports of a meeting to be held in London by the NEAFC coastal states to discuss the same issue, also scheduled for April.
Iceland has “every right to exploit resources inside its own national waters and to deny this right is against international law,” said the Ministry.
“However, alongside the right to exploit a common resource, there is an obligation for states to seek co-operation with other coastal states.
