The Icelandic Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture has set quotas for the 2013-2014 fishing year, which opens on the Sept. 1.
The total allowable catch (TAC) for cod is increasing 9.51 percent from 195,400 metric tons in the current season to 214,400 metric tons next year.
Haddock, which is expected to see a further reduction in TAC in the North and Barents Sea, will see a quota increase of 2,000 metric tons to 38,000 metric tons in the new season.
The quota for saithe is also up, hiking from 50,000 metric tons to 57,000 metric tons.
According
