As foodservice sales continue to decline in North America, Canadian-based High Liner Foods is turning to “fast casual” restaurants to develop a fish menu option to fill in the void.
Bob Gibson, investment analysts at Octagon Capital, told IntraFish on Monday restaurants such as Chipotle and Panera Bread are both growing incredibly fast, yet neither chain has a fish item.
“Fish tacos, for example are extremely popular,” Gibson said of the options High Liner could pitch to these restaurants.
In his analysis of the company released last week, Gibson wrote the company has had a lot of success identifying new products, but lacked the ability to launch them as effectively as they want.
