The vertically integrated group is currently consulting the “big four” high-end retailers and foodservice firms in the United Kingdom about listing its Lumar brand of value-added, ready-to-eat tuna loins, the company told IntraFish.

Grupo Lumar hopes the range, which comprises several long-line caught yellowfin tuna loins with a variety of sauces as well as swordfish, will arrive in the United Kingdom around April 2010.

The tuna and swordfish are caught by Grupo Lumar’s own fishing fleet in FAO Zone 51 in the Indian Ocean, frozen at sea to minus 40 degrees Celsius and brought to Spain by reefer vessel for processing.
