Imports of frozen tilapia fillets into the United States have plummeted in 2016 -- the most recent data from the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) shows a 14.8 percent decrease in volume, from 57,060 metric tons during the first four months of last year to 48,613 metric tons through April of this year.
At the same time, imports fell 24.2 percent in value from $270 million to $204.7 million.
