The worth of the report on escaped farmed salmon in Norwegian rivers, and measures based on the report’s findings, was debated vehemently during a dialogue meeting on the monitoring program for escaped farmed salmon under the regime of the Directorate of Fisheries.
In 2014 the Institute of Marine Research (IMR) agreed to start up a monitoring program, which will be carried out in cooperation with the Directorate of Fisheries, and will integrate knowledge and experiences from the Norwegian Institute for Nature Research (NINA).
