The Asbjorn on Monday landed 138 metric tons of fresh fish to the Bremerhaven auction.
The bulk of the catch was good quality golden redfish (Sebastes marinus), plus 20 metric tons of saithe, all caught over a 10-day trip in tough weather during the holiday period when the rest of the fleet was in port.
According to skipper Olafur Einarsson, they had to work hard for their catch. Weather was bad enough at one point for him to decide to seek shelter close to the land on Christmas Eve.
