The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is hoping to find an answer to help solve the fishery bycatch problem with its next Smart Gear competition.

The event, scheduled from March 1 through Aug. 31, will award $30,000 to the project that has the best chance of minimizing, or ideally ending, bycatch in a fishery.

Two $10,000 prizes will be awarded to runner ups and other monetary prizes could be awarded to other deserving projects.
