The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is hoping to find an answer to help solve the fishery bycatch problem with its next Smart Gear competition.
The event, scheduled from March 1 through Aug. 31, will award $30,000 to the project that has the best chance of minimizing, or ideally ending, bycatch in a fishery.
Two $10,000 prizes will be awarded to runner ups and other monetary prizes could be awarded to other deserving projects.
Mike Osmond, senior program officer for WWF, told IntraFish Friday he's hopeful entires will be submitted from across the globe.
