Harvest Select is acquiring Birmingham, Alabama-based seafood company Steel City Seafood, the company said Tuesday.
Known for its farmed catfish, Harvest Select said the acquisition will allow it to increase its supply of Gulf of Mexico seafood and other species, which are a "natural complement" to it current line of products.
Steel City offers a range of wild-harvest Gulf seafood, including fish, oysters, shrimp and crab.
Through the use of current trucking and logistics, Harvest Select will supply and distribute larger shipments of a wider range of seafood to existing customers and open the doors for growth.
