Farming of salmon is a global food success story, but the industry is taking a hammering from revelations and punitive measures.
It could appear as though success often generates criticism. The world’s salmon producers have contributed toward creating one of the truly great success stories in the food industry the last few decades. This is a success that has taken its toll, both because the industry has played a role in casting itself in a bad light, as with the Norwegian nitrite issue, and because there are many that do not want fish to grow up in captivity, in sea cages.
