International demand for Nova Scotia lobster and other local seafood is boosting air cargo figures at Halifax Stanfield International Airport, with recorded shipments of 32,020 metric tons in 2015, reports The Chronicle Herald.
“Live lobsters have gone from $63 million (€56.9 million) in 2013 to $130 million (€117.5 million) in 2015,” said Ian Arthur, chief commercial officer at the airport.
The airport is shifting from using metric tons as a measure of cargo to dollar value, as it is a better approach to the economic impact of the cargos.
