Some of Namibia’s largest fishing companies allegedly owe the government about NAD 76 million (€7 million/$9.1 million) for levies on hake quotes.
An outstanding amount of about NAD 76 million for levies allegedly still has to be paid by about 25 hake right holders for the period between the 2003/2004 and 2010/2011 fishing seasons, according to a Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources document in possession of The Namibian.
