It’s been a rough beginning to the season for Louisiana shrimpers, with a delayed start and smaller sizes. But near all-time dockside prices and better harvests are signaling a turnaround in the days ahead.

“We’re already seeing some decent size hauls with the better weather,” Lance Nacio, a third-generation fisherman and owner of Dulac’s Anna Marie Seafood, told IntraFish.

Currently, shrimpers are hauling in a combined 800,000 pounds per day, which is in line with last year’s average, the price however is a whole different story.
