France Turbot struggled after losing its Chinese market to local producers, Communications Manager Veronique Ehanno told IntraFish.
In February, Alfesca paid €21.2 million ($29.1 million) for Adrimex, with some of the money destined to be plowed into Group Adrien’s hake fishing and processing activities in Peru, and into its fledgling French oyster businesses.
Last year, Bougenais-based Groupe Adrien opened its first oyster production site at Noirmoutier with 25 new workers, where it grew 50 million shellfish.
This year, the company will invest in the production of 300 million oysters and a growout center at Les Cotes d'Armor.
