“It’s best to exercise caution before being too bombastic about the effect of the vaccine,” Vike told IntraFish. “There’s certain to be nuances, different opinions and evaluations that require thoroughness and, not least, expertise.”
“The downturn in the number of PD cases in 2009 meant that we, as did so many others, had great hopes and faith that the PD vaccine had a good effect on the disease. In that we have now seen an increase in the number of PD cases and how this has spread in, among others, the Ryfylke basin, as was pointed out in the Norwegian Food Safety Authority’s (NFSA) letter, then it is high time to ask if the PD vaccine provides a good enough effect,” Vike said.
