Greenpeace on Tuesday defended its work on the latest iteration of its "Carting Away the Oceans" ranking of retailers' seafood sustainability policies, striking back at National Fisheries Institute (NFI) and Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) criticism.

NFI's response to the report was particularly barbed. It called the report a "cartoonish mishmash," and a "painfully redundant" and ineffective fundraising tool. The response ended: "'Carting Away The Oceans' just carted away 20 minutes of my time that I will never get back."
