The hatchery produces, Atlantic cod, summer flounder, black sea bass, using partial recirculating systems. Until recently when it closed its Dominican Republic hatchery, the company produced significant volumes of cobia.
"The cobia hatchery had to shut down as a result of business downturns resulting from the economic crisis of 2008-2009 and the trickle-down effect which affected customers backing away from purchase agreement, which made the hatchery vulnerable," CEO George Nardi told IntraFish. "There are no immediate plans to restart this hatchery in the near future."
