Five years after Gorton’s and the New England Aquarium (NEA) announced a partnership to find sustainable seafood solutions, the two entities say their work is just beginning.

Before scientists from NEA were asked to examine the habitats of Gorton’s sources for seafood, roughly 60 percent came from sustainable sources either certified aquaculture or by the Marine Stewardship Council.

“Now more than 97 percent of what we source comes from sustainable sources,” Lisa Webb, Gorton’s vice president of supply chain told IntraFish.
