Pittsburgh,Pennsylvania-based supermarket chain Giant Eagle is joining the antitrust fight against the largest canned tuna companies in the United States, alleging the companies conspired to fix prices of their products.

Giant Eagle filed a lawsuit on Friday in a northern California district court in hopes of recovering damages, attorneys’ fees, litigation expenses, and court costs and secure injunctive relief for the companies' violations the Sherman Act. The lawsuit also demands a jury trial.

Although not a class-action lawsuit like previous ones filed by other retailers and consumers, Giant Eagle names Starkist, Bumble Bee Foods, Bumble Bee Seafoods, Tri-Union Seafoods, Chicken of the Sea and Thai Union's King Oscar as defendants.
