The Daily Telegraph isn’t what you might call a fisherman’s friend. In fact, this UK daily newspaper, with its right-wing, anti-EU stance, is probably the section of the British mainstream media that also seems to have a particularly virulent hatred of commercial fishing -- not that the rest of the media behaves much differently.

The latest piece of bile from the Telegraph is possibly the most lamentable chunk of one-sided, top-heavy journalism yet. It reports that the English Channel is practically empty of fish, based on a report via a US thinktank and conversations with a couple of carefully chosen sources.
