Followfood -- owner of Germany's fastest-growing frozen fish and seafood brand followfish -- is taking its sustainable approach one step further, and said it aims to become a 100 percent emissions-free operation.

In order to achieve that, it is planning to compensate for the emissions it produces, caused by the transport of its goods, by planting trees in Uganda, as of the beginning of 2017.

The company will be working with myclimate, a CO2 compensation project, on achieving the goal.

In total, the company will have to compensate for for 400 metric tons of annually produced CO2, it said.
