The whitefish flow line systems from Marel are increasing throughput and efficiency in Espersen’s plant in Klaipeda, Lithuania to allow the firm to target more and diversified business.
“We can supply a quicker frozen and thereby a fresher product” using the new system, Espersen Lithuania Managing Director Reidar Inselseth told IntraFish.
There are also plans to use the Lithuanian plant, which is the smallest in the Espersen group, as a “test lab” for development of some new products, he said.
Next year, the company plans to process 7,600 metric tons of fish, half of which will be fresh.
