There's a definite demand for MSC-certified fish among their customer base, Euronor’s Managing Director Bruno Leduc told Fishing News International.
“Last year the German fleet’s saithe fishery was certified by the MSC, and we saw that they were able to improve their saithe prices by doing this,” he said.
Euronor’s application for MSC certification is the second in France, as the Association of Purse Seine Fishers in Brittany made its application a week before Euronor, but it’s still not certain which of these French fisheries will be the first to receive full certification.
