The network’s internet auction has been in operation for only a few weeks, but has already attracted a number of buyers who see the advantages of being able to purchase over a wider area, according to IntraFish sister publication Fishing News International.

“Our remote buyers are mainly in the Le Guilvinec and Concarneau areas. The aim is to make Lorient stronger,” said Laure Birrien of the Port of Lorient’s commercial department.

The more buyers there are bidding for fish, the higher the prices for fishermen.
