The €215 million ($300 million)-turnover group is researching possible partners in the Indian processing sector, its director general, Santiago Freire Rodriguez, told IntraFish.

“The advantage of processing in India is you can also mix in some of the local seafood, such as squid and cuttlefish, as well as processing other species shipped out there,” he said.

Freire has been making trips in India and said the infrastructure and culture is also good for business. The company’s China-based JV is in Qingdao.

Freiremar is based in Las Palmas, on the Spanish island of Gran Canaria.
