A total allowable catch (TAC) for wild seabass could be put in place in 2015, even though most EU member states are pressing for a package of technical measures to manage the stocks.
The European Commission is keen to set up an EU management regime for bass, and has asked its science, technical and economics committee (STECF) to produce a report on the stock, and possible management measures to conserve the stock and create a sustainable fishery.
This is expected in June or July this year.
