“I respect Atle’s reasons and decision, but this is a sad moment for the salmon farming industry," Torgnes told IntraFish Friday.
Eide announced his resignation Friday morning.
"Atle has been a part of top management of the Norwegian salmon farming industry most of his life, in Skretting, Hydro Seafood, Alsaker Fjordbruk, Salmar, FHL, Pan Fish and Marine Harvest.
"He has been the link between the early stages of the industry to the consolidation and industrialization we have seen the last 10 years. I hope the industry will get the opportunity to make use of his services also in the years to come, Torgnes said.
